breath of a buffalo

What is life?

It is the flash of a firefly in the night,

It is the breath of a buffalo in the winter time.

It is the little shadow which runs across the grass

and loses itself in the sunset.

- Crowfoot, or Issapóómahksika, Native American, chief of the Siksika Nation

I've used this same quote, same place before.
There's something about that tree standing alone, watching, isolated against
whatever comes its way season after season.

As per the comment on your September 1st posting of this quote, life is about standing still and watching the world go by, much as this tree has presumably done for a long long time, while all else passes by, there it stands, watching and waiting.

indeed. Wessex Reiver. indeed.

And it has a lofty vantage point to watch the world pass.
