where's Blue Circle?

Kudzu. Kudzu. I've posted about its invasion before. Is this the old Blue Circle Drive-in on Chapman Highway?

The Blue Circle hamburger chain started in Knoxville in 1931. Their motto was straight to the point “a happy place for hungry people.”

But where have they all gone? Are they yet another victim of the creeping kudzu invasion?

Watch out!

This side of the Atlantic Blue Circle is a brand of cement. Perhaps they just found another use for a burger.

Hello dear Adrian. Perhaps you are right. Burgers to cement. Didn't the Romans invent concrete? In your wanderings around their ancient sites, have you seen any evidence of burgers?

Enjoy your day on the road.

The Romans had what we now know as cement fondue. Used for under water works. Naturally occurring in dolomitic limestone. Still has to be burnt and crushed prior to use so maybe.
Plenty of evidence round Roman remains unfortunately all bear the 'Three Arches' logo.

Hello.

Chapman Highway is in Knoxville. Starting on the north side of town and driving towards the south. Broadway becomes Henley Street, which becomes Chapman Highway at the Tennessee River and the former Baptist Hospital. The four=lane road runs south from that point and goes to Seymour and Sevierville.

OK?

Thanks.
