Thanks for the props, Lyn. This November 2009 photo is a cypress slough near the east bank of the Alabama River down in Monroe County, home of both the Red Hills salamander and Harper Lee. It's iced in today, no doubt. Brr.

Red Hills salamander and Harper Lee, that's quite a combination. I wish she had written another novel, Lee not the salamander.
