bloomin' berry

Where do beautyberries common from? As it turns out, before the colorful magenta berries appear in the fall, the shrubs produce rather small pink flowers that often go unnoticed.

Well, go notice them! The American beautyberries are now in bloom at the nature center.

I like the picture. Sure would make a nice postcard for Ijams museum store to sell. Customers are always asking for postcards and something with Ijams Logo on it. However, I do like the "Bales" on the card. Think about doing colored note cards to add to your line. And too, one of the beauty berries when they become the beautiful berries.

People, if you haven't seen Lyn's note cards, come by Ijams and visit the gift shop. Note cards of native birds, flower, bugs. We even have boxes of note cards. Bird boxes, flower boxes, bug boxes. And don't forget the boxed note cards that accompanies Lyn's book "Natural Histories...Stories from the Tennessee Valley". I'm trying to get him to do monthly programs about the book. The Osage Orange, the "green brain" We have an osage orange tree here at Ijams. The Beavers and how changes in men's hat fashions down through the centuries had sent this magnificent animal plunging towar the brink of extiction and happily, back to abundance once more. Have you seen the Beaver Dam here at Ijams. The Eagle and the excitement experienced when I ran to Lyn's office and asked him to come identify the large bird circling over Ijams North Cove trail area. The bird with black wings and a white head and tail. I didn't know what it was but now I do. It's one thing to know the eagle as our national bird but it's another to actual see it soar in the air above you.....oh well, enough about Lyn, his book and Ijams. Just come out and visit Ijams, buy Lyn's book (on the right day you might even get it autographed) and let him know you would like to attend a monthly program about the interisting chapters of his wonderful book. TTFN.

Thank you for the kind comments. I must tell Sheila who manages our gift shop at the nature center.
