The dappled sunlight of an early morning. Leaves dancing. Fluttering. Waking up to greet the new day as the world begins to rub the sleep out of its eyes. Just one of ten thousand thousand days. No two alike. The primordial pageant.
The child within, living in the moment, that sacrosanct point in space and time, as Peter Matthiessen tells it:
“In his first summers, forsaking all his toys, my son would stand rapt for near an hour in his sandbox in the orchard, as doves and redwings came and went on the warm wind, the leaves dancing, the clouds flying, birdsong and sweet smell of privet and rose. The child was not observing, he was at rest in the very center of the universe, a part of things, unaware of endings and beginnings, still in unison with the primordial nature of creation, letting all light and phenomena pour through. Ecstasy is identity with all existence…”
Happy First of May. Enjoy the day.

My God but that is simply beautiful. I'd love that to hang up....black and white back ground with the front green leaves the only color...I bet it'd be beautiful.
I found you while trying to find out what some lichen is called. We think it's 'Grandpas Beard' but I can't find any images of it. Your pictures are all very beautiful. You're an amazing photographer. I want to make some 3part cards out of them! :) I'm a Montessori momma/teacher.

This was an amazing post! Not only does it remind us of the true stirrings we should feel at the first of May, it also reminds us that we have that primordial spirit of early creation when we allowed nature to truly speak to us. I wrote a story once about a man who could hear the trees speak to him as a child, and then he grew up and forgot to listen. In the story's end, his baby son has taken up the baton....perhaps we have to be very young to still remember! Sometimes though we still have fleeting moments that bring us back....
Absolutely loved this post!!!!!
