The mockingbirds already know this, but the serviceberries are ripe.
Known as "sarvis" by the old-time mountaineers, the modest-sized trees are the first to produce ripe berries during any calendar year.
And I might add that the berries are delicious.

Lovely shot - I've never heard of those kind of berries! What do they taste like? Are they tart or sweet?

There a few species of serviceberries in the east. Outside my region, the more common name for the group is "Juneberry" because the fruit is ripe before June.
Speaking of fruit, I hope all is well in the Big Apple.
